Vox Amvia has created a world first by offering a full turnkey faxing solution built on RightFax technology as its core. This incorporates RightFax servers and associated services, SLAs and managed services, hosted fax solutions such as fax to email, bulk fax and pay as you use RightFax and fax traffic solutions which dramatically reduce Telco costs.

According to Craig Freer, MD of Vox Amvia, there are a number of advantages of partnering with a complete faxing provider. “The most obvious one is cost; by working through one supplier your economies of scale improve, resulting in significant savings particularly for larger organisations.”

“Security is also improved as one company is responsible for safeguarding your information; this, combined with the benefits of the RightFax server, whether it is owned or outsourced, will ensure that your organisation remains corporate compliant.”

However, the major benefit is choice, in that companies now have access to best of breed technology, albeit with a business model structured to their requirements. “As a business you should have the option to choose a service that suits your needs and, more importantly, your budget. Clients may want to access fax through software as a service, while others may prefer to outsource the entire process,” adds Freer.

“Faxing is business critical and is still the only corporate compliant form of document transfer; so before you choose your fax supplier, make sure that they can offer a solution geared to your exact business needs.”

According to a recent report published by Davidson Consulting, a fax industry analyst firm, NASDAQ listed Open Text has further extended its lead in the fax market with significant growth experienced in fax server, production fax, Multifunction Peripherals (MFP) integration and FoiP.

“The emergence of various privacy acts including; King III, Basel II, Consumer Protection Bill and the Protection of Personal Information Bill; have helped drive this change and will continue to do so in the future,” says Craig Freer MD of Vox Amvia, official supplier of Open Text RightFax in South Africa.

As detailed in the report, despite difficult economic conditions over the past few years, the fax market has continued to experience year on year growth, further underlining its status as business critical.

“One of the driving forces behind this success, has been the growth of Open Text Fax Server, RightFax, which according to the report is the ’leading fax server software brand’,” says Freer.

According to Lubor Ptacek, Vice President of Product Marketing at Open Text, faxing remains an integral component in enabling mission critical business processes for many industries and enterprises.

“Open Text Fax Server provides the best option in the industry to securely send, receive and store confidential business information, while eliminating the need for standalone fax machines and paper-driven processes. We believe in the enterprise fax market and are fully committed to delivering the most secure and integrated fax solutions possible to customers across multiple industries.”

Consumer ISP @lantic, a subsidiary of the Vox Telecom group, has partnered with Kaspersky to provide affordable internet security to their customer base.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 offers superior internet protection and monitoring as well as parental control. It also provides virtual keyboard software that prevents hackers from accessing login details and passwords when browsing the net.

Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 is available from @lantic at R14.99 per month for a single user inclusive of VAT, or R168.99 annually if you pay upfront.

“Where our internet security solution differs from our competitors is that we give single users the ability to manage their virus protection on a monthly basis via the internet,” says Jeane van Greunen, Head of Products at @lantic. “Instead of paying in excess of R400 for an off the shelf solution, users can now rent the security solution on a monthly or annual basis, depending on their requirements. Retail versions of Kaspersky are also available on DVD from selected @lantic retail stores.”

“Consumers think that by using free antivirus software they are protected,” says van Greunen. “Unfortunately it is a case of you get what you pay for and often with regret! Most free internet security solutions only provide weekly updates and do not protect against all security threats, while Kaspersky provides up to the minute updates, based on the latest threats.”

“We are constantly looking at offering consumers the best products in the market, and when it comes to internet security software, Kaspersky is one of the best,” says van Greunen.

With the advent of email, many predicted the end of faxing. However with a massive increase in data fraud over the past decade, there has been renewed interest in traditional document transfer.

“Since 2007 we have seen up to a 400% increase in fax traffic from some of our financial services clients, while medical and retail customer’s usage has gone up by as much as 75%,” says MD of Vox Amvia, Craig Freer.

The emergence of various privacy acts aimed at protecting the consumer; including King III, Basel II, Consumer Protection Bill and the Protection of Personal Information Bill; have helped drive this change. “Being corporate compliant is no longer negotiable. It is business critical,” says Freer.

Email is not a secure technology. It can be intercepted, tampered with, corrupted, lost, destroyed, arrive late or incomplete and even contain viruses; whereas fax is conducted in real time and is inherently secure.

“By integrating your fax technology with a trusted fax server supplier, like RightFax, your business eliminates all of these potential threats, providing you with reliable, secure and most importantly corporate compliant document transfer,” says Freer.

“Although still viewed by many as an old technology, fax continues to evolve, and has progressed from the traditional standalone fax machine to the desktop.”

“The continued growth of fax has been further driven by the emergence of FoIP (fax over IP) which carries with it all the benefits of VoIP to the faxing environment, allowing your business to integrate your faxing along with voice and data on a single line,” adds Freer.

Vox Amvia currently services the majority of the top100 JSE listed companies. “We expect this trend to continue, as South African business realises the importance of faxing in their everyday operations.”
