Principal Job Responsibilities (Duties include, but are not limited to):
- Develop visual concepts, graphics, and layouts for a wide range of deliverables including digital campaigns, social media assets, websites, infographics, presentations, email marketing, brochures, and event collateral.
- Design assets in line with client brand guidelines, ensuring consistency and visual excellence across all materials.
- Translate strategic and marketing objectives into visually engaging and effective designs.
- Support the creation and evolution of client brand identities through thoughtful use of typography, layout, colour, and iconography.
- Utilise data and insights to inform design choices and support content optimisation.
- Contribute to the development of brand guidelines and visual systems for new and existing clients.
- Bring stories to life through creative visual storytelling that resonates with target audiences in the tech space.
- Work closely with account managers and clients to execute digital campaign assets.
- Manage multiple design projects simultaneously, balancing deadlines and client/team expectations.
- Participate in creative briefings and present design ideas with clarity and rationale to both internal teams.
- Create and adapt visual content for social media platforms (LinkedIn, X, Facebook, Instagram, etc.).
- Design digital display banners, animated GIFs, video graphics, and web-based visuals in collaboration with the digital team.
- Stay informed of social and digital design trends to ensure content remains current and engaging.
- Conduct thorough checks on all design output, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.
- Prepare final artwork for digital and print production, managing file formats, resolutions, and colour spaces appropriately.
- Maintain an organised and accessible design archive across internal systems (e.g., Canva, Adobe CC, Google Drive).
- Edit and produce short-form videos for social media, client campaigns, case studies, and event highlights.
- Create engaging motion graphics and branded video templates.
- Collaborate with the content and digital teams to storyboard, script, and edit video content aligned with marketing objectives.
- Optimise video formats for different platforms (LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, etc.), ensuring technical compatibility and visual impact.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Matric – essential
- Relevant tertiary qualification. Degree essential.
- 2–4 years of experience in an agency or multi-client design environment (preferably tech sector).
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of digital and print design work.
- Proficient in digital design tools and platforms, such as Affinity (Designer, Publisher and Photo) or Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator); experience with Canva is a plus.
- Solid foundation in typography, colour theory, layout, and branding principles.
- Meticulous attention to detail, with a strong commitment to quality assurance and accuracy.
- Strong focus and the ability to ensure projects remain aligned with client briefs and strategic objectives.
- Excellent communication skills; able to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Utilise data and insights, potentially working with analytics specialists, to inform design choices and support content optimisation.
- Ensure design content is accessible, including considerations like alt text for images.
- Deliver final design assets on brief and on time, maintaining proactive communication with clients.
- Serve as expert support for global agencies needing additional design resources when winning integrated digital briefs.
- Proficiency in video editing software.
- Demonstrated experience editing short-form video content for digital and social media channels.
- Ability to storyboard, edit, and apply motion graphics to enhance visual storytelling.
- Understanding of video formats, resolution, compression, and platform-specific best practices.
- Familiarity with data-led marketing concepts and how design contributes to content performance and optimisation (e.g., A/B testing considerations).
- Problem-solving mindset and the ability to adapt quickly to client and industry needs.
